The aim of this contribution is to present a novel decision technique for the strategic issue of supplier selection. The approach integrates the most important methodologies considered in the related literature about the supplier selection and their ranking: the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), the Technique for Order Preference by Similarities to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and the linear programming approach. We propose a three-step procedure that deploys the advantages of the three techniques to effectively rank suppliers according to their efficiency while requiring from each the appropriate supply, according to customers' demand.

Abstract

The aim of this contribution is to present a novel decision technique for the strategic issue of supplier selection. The approach integrates the most important methodologies considered in the related literature about the supplier selection and their ranking: the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), the Technique for Order Preference by Similarities to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and the linear programming approach. We propose a three-step procedure that deploys the advantages of the three techniques to effectively rank suppliers according to their efficiency while requiring from each the appropriate supply, according to customers' demand.
