Our contribution lays in the context of decision making procedures for strategic management of intermodal terminals. More in detail, we propose a decision making procedure based on the integration of a Timed Petri Net (TPN) modelling framework with a cross-efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) multi-criteria optimization technique. The procedure allows to model the terminal and automatically evaluate, compare, and rank the possible planning alternatives according to their impact on some suitably chosen indices on the terminal performance (e.g., throughput, emissions, cost, etc.).

Abstract

Our contribution lays in the context of decision making procedures for strategic management of intermodal terminals. More in detail, we propose a decision making procedure based on the integration of a Timed Petri Net (TPN) modelling framework with a cross-efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) multi-criteria optimization technique. The procedure allows to model the terminal and automatically evaluate, compare, and rank the possible planning alternatives according to their impact on some suitably chosen indices on the terminal performance (e.g., throughput, emissions, cost, etc.).
