The aim of this research is to illustrate an historical analysis of the major events and factors that shaped the urban identity of the “State” of Amalfi and its statutory law during the period of Aragonese rule. The Author underscores the development of the administrative and judicial experiences in the Duchy of Amalfi from a legal and institutional perspective, focusing the attention not only on relations and cultural influences, but also on historical divergences among the settlements of the territory of Amalfi, separated by narrow and deep valleys sloping down towards the sea.
