Abstract

The social dimension of the enterprise is an important strategic variable for the business management and it is by now more and more connected with the profitableness and the competitiveness of the firm. In the middle and long time, the enterprises success is more and more influenced by the quality of the relationships with the stakeholders; in this viewpoint the profit is the expression of the firm capability to satisfy its interlocutors’ expectations, basing itself on immaterial elements like the trust, the cohesion and the motivation that qualify the firm position in its own socio-competitive ambit. The natural consequence of the strategic approach to the social dimension of the enterprise is the need to measure the social performances to verify if the managerial action is coherent with the fixed aims. The object of this paper is to analyse the Mediolanum group social dimension through an articulate and systemic model of performances measurement. In the social performances measurement it is desiderable to reason in systemic terms, considering the manifold factors that influence it, the relationships amongst those factors and the specific aim that one purposes to achieve. In particular, in this paper, we analyse the observed aspects, the variables and the methodologies used in the measurement process to value the social performances.
